Backwash Your Sand Filter

It's easy to clean your sand filter.

Following these simple steps when backwashing will keep your filter in top shape and your pool will always look clean and clear.  Backwashing once every four weeks will make sure your filter is always working at it’s best.

  • Make sure all valves are open
  • Ensure that the pump is turned off
  • Turn the pump on and run the pump until the water in the slight glass runs clear
  • Turn the pump off
  • Turn the handle on the filter to rinse
  • Turn the pump on for about 1 min or until the slight glass is clear again
  • Turn the pump off
  • Return the handle on the filter to backwash
  • Turn the pump on until the water in the slight glass runs clear
  • Turn the pump off
  • Turn the handle on the filter to rinse
  • Turn the pump on for 30 seconds or until the sight glass is clear again
  • Turn the pump off
  • Turn the handle back to filter
  • Check that the settings are correct on the timer for the pump and it is set on automatic
